Music is something that I have always loved and felt a deep connection to. It is something that also allows me to connect with my body and breath, and it is something that generates a lot of inspiration and emotion within me.
Though I will often practice without music at home, I am definitely a lover of playing music during my practice, and while teaching. Growing up for several years with a background in dance, I've always loved feeling the energy and beats of music whilst creating movement in the body. Because music has always been a big part of my life, it only feels natural that I play music during classes as well.
I have also been to many classes where teachers have music playing, and there have certainly been a handful of classes in which I have not found the chosen music to help me connect with my body and mind, but we live in a world with such diverse culture, including genres of music. Though not all types of music are for everyone, it can be a lot of fun searching for, and being introduced to new songs and artists. Because of this I'd like to share with you a few of my favourite songs from one of my go-to class playlists.
